Purpose: The purpose of this meeting is to discuss existing information about drinking water issues in Hoback Junction, as well as potential options for addressing them. The Public Meeting, which will be held from 5:30PM to 7:00PM, will be designed to present existing information, provide technical guidance to homeowners, increase community awareness, and answer questions.
Issue: Water quality data from public water supplies in the Hoback Junction area have identified a persistent, and in some cases increasing, concentration of Nitrates in drinking water supply wells that is at or above the drinking water criteria of 10 mg/L set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Goals: The goals of this meeting include:
(1) Consolidating existing information about drinking water issues and previously proposed solutions;
(2) Building common understanding about drinking water problems in Hoback Junction;
(3) Using a Stakeholder driven approach to develop action steps for moving forward; and,
(4) Cataloging public resources that are available for private property owners in Hoback Junction.
