Native Species List
Below is the Teton County, Wyoming's LDR (Land Development Regulation) Native Plant Species List. Along with other area professionals, TCD has worked with the Teton County Planning Department (TCPD) on compiling this list. The LDRs currently require the use of native plants for reclamation purposes (see Division 49100, Grading and Erosion Control Standards). The LDRs also require that all landscape areas beyond 200 feet of the building area utilize native plants (Division 4100, Landscaping Standards). The Teton County Native Plant Species List aims to help provide greater consistency and clarity with reviews of projects that must meet these standards.
Species are currently listed alphabetically by their most common name. All species on this list are native, found in Teton County, Wyoming, and found commercially available as of July 2008. We did not include non-native/non-aggressive species because we wanted to keep the list simple and encourage as well as educate the importance of planting native species in our area. If you have specific concerns about species left off this list, please let TCDs NR Specialist, Rachel Markko know.
In the next few months Rachel plans on binding the list along with general site specific seed mixes, an intro to planting, a map of TC Bear Conflict Priority Zones, a list of TC noxious weed species, pictures of plant species, and additional characteristics (not on this list) for plant species… This booklet should be available by August 2008 and will be sent out to Gov., non-profit, and area plant related businesses.
